The practice of cricket in Spain consolidated in 1975 with the creation of the Madrid Cricket Club, founded by English and Indian players. In 1987, the Spanish Cricket Association was created. This association is a member of the European Cricket Council and the International Cricket Council.
According to the data of the Sporting Entities Register of the Generalitat de Catalunya, in Catalonia there are three clubs were cricket can be played: Barcelona Cricket Club; Minhaj Cricket Club Esportiu; and Club Beisbol y Softbol "Iberos".

In addition to these clubes, the Pak-Catalan Association (Associació Pak-Català) organises tournaments between 12 teams in the metropolitan area of Barcelona formed by members of the Pakistani community.
The Ciutat Vella Sporting Association (Associació Esportiva de Ciutat Vella) organises cricket classes in the schools of the Raval quarter in Barcelona with the objective of promoting amongst society a sporting practice, as well as the integration of Pakistani youth in the quarter by practising their own sport. Spaces have been adapted and a new version of cricket known as tape ball has been created.
