"I feel proud to represent Hospitalet here in Spain"

"I feel a little bit Catalan, but I will always be an immigrant"

Cricket is one of the national sports of Pakistan and is central to the country's culture and national identity.

Cricket can be seen in the squares and streets of certain Catalan cities, and as part of the celebrations of national Pakistani holidays. Cricket is also being taught in the school playgrounds of the Raval district as a tool for integrating young people of a Pakistani background into the area, and for encouraging the practice of the sport among other cultural groups and also among girls.

The lack of big enough spaces in which to play cricket has meant that the sport has undergone some adaptations and a new version has emerged called tape ball, which can be played on football pitches.

Playing cricket helps maintain and preserve ethnic continuity and national identity, and is an important element in developing social and political networks for this community.
