CEO-UAB and the University Gama Filho of Rio de Janeiro will collaborate in 2011 thanks to the Hispano-Brazilian Interuniversity Cooperation Program, promoted by the Ministry of Education.
Collaboration will consist in the organization of a joint seminar entitled "Mega sport events: economy, communication, urban planning, culture and legacy of the Olympic Games and the Football World Cups" that will be held in July at the University Gamma Filho (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and in November at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
The seminar will gather together Spanish and Brazilian researchers and experts in the economic, cultural, communicative, urban and legacy aspects of the Football World Cup and the Olympic Games, mega sport events that will be held in Brazil in 2014 and 2016 respectively. The seminar will aim to exchange and the disseminate knowledge on these areas, to consolidate scientific relations, to promote exchanges in academic staff and to create joint research groups in the area of Olympic studies.
The UAB team is formed by Emilio Fernández Peña (main researcher), Miquel de Moragas, Ferran Brunet Cid, Francesc Muñoz, Chris Kennett, and Berta Cerezuela (as manager). The UGF team is integrated by members of the UGF Olympic Studies Research Group: Lamartine Pereira DaCosta (main researcher), Ana Maria Miragaya, Neise Abreu, Marta Gomez, Marcio Turini, Valeria Bitencourt, Vicente Ambrosio, Ana Flavia Paes Leme and Ana Pricilla Almeida
